The True Food Initiative is designed to cultivate a healthy and food secure community in the Paso Del Norte Region by growing market access to locally produced foods and building economic sustainability for local farms.   Through collaborations and community engagement, True Food Initiative projects will connect youth to their food system, increase the promotion of locally produced foods and assist farmers with bridging the gap that exists between them and accessing the larger marketplace.

 Zach White Elementary Garden Lab

In close partnership with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, the design and construction of an inclusive school garden was completed as part of the 3rd grade Learn, Grow, Eat and Go Junior Master Gardener program. True Food will continue to offer support to integrate additional grade levels and incorporate STEAM learning material.

TI:ME Market Farm Stand

Through a collaboration with TI:ME Market, access to locally produced foods is made possible through a farm stand located at TI:ME Market.  True Food provides assistance in the aggregation and promotion of locally produced food to establish a consistent market supply helping to increase market demand and create a new market opportunity for local producers.  The farm stand, located in a community setting, will allow the purchase of locally-grown produce and foster community engagement in our local food system.
