Celebrate Food Day With Us!

In partnership with the Paso del Norte Institute for Healthy Living, Apple Crunch events are being coordinated throughout our region as part of National Food Day 2018.  The first Apple Crunch took place in New York City in 2012, and the popular event has since spread across the country. This is a day (or week) where we can join millions across the United States in biting into a delicious, juicy apple in celebration of healthy,  affordable and locally grown food.

Host An Apple Crunch

  • Set the day(s) for your event between October 22nd – October 26th.

  • Determine the type of event. Will it be a one day coordinated event with everyone “taking a crunch” in unison or will it be multiple events, or left up to each individual? Try to to think of an event structure that will maximize participation.

  • Determine where to source apples (farmers’ markets, grocery stores, or even host a “BYOA event…bring your own apple”.

  • Who will participate? (Students, Teachers, Employees)

  • Get the word out! This can be done through your social media outlets, email, website, newsletters, flyers and publications.

  • Share your event on social media outlets and make sure to use event hashtags #PDNAppleCrunch #FoodDay2018
